Just look at this poor over bread discarded Mama who was left on a property with no food and water when the owners moved away. You can see her spin bones.
Welcome to my world...
Welcome to my living Hell.... I use to say that to myself every day when I was at the Los Angeles high kill county shelter. I would have to put my back up against the cement wall just to breath and tell myself crying is a privilege. These innocent thrown away animals don't have a chance, there is not time to feel sorry...This is my Living Hell....the least I can do is not stop and give them love and devote my life to change. |

It is haunting to know that people will dump their dogs at the shelter because they got pregnant.

What is worse is when they take the puppies from the over bread mamas too soon just to sell the pups for profit and dump the Mama's at our High Kill County Shelters. This Mama does not have a chance to survive because the shelters are so full of pit bulls |
Not even a blanket? Even if I have seen the room filled with donated towels and blankets....oh yay too much work to hand them out to only have to wash them the next day. Who's going to complain...the dogs...the citizens don't care.
If the shelter does not find a foster to bottle feed these puppies or kittens they are forced to euthanize them that day they come in, because they to not have the staff to feed them every 2 hour around the clock.

A Lasagna Tin for a Bed Imagine you are pregnant, you were brought to this loud scary place, you do not know if you are in danger for your life. It is cold, damp, dogs are barking all day and night, and all you are given is a lasagna tin to nest in for you and your soon to be babies. You are exhausted from being terrified for so long. Welcome to Los Angels High Kill Shelter. One of the riches counties in America. And this is how they care about you.... 
Every day you see people walking up with a boxes full of puppies and kittens.

I have seen at some of our county shelters won't even give the pups a warm soft blanket.
They must huddle together on the cold wet cement. I have seen kennels workers hose down the kennels with disregards to getting the puppies wet. I have also seen hard food put down for puppies or seniors who don't even have teeth. If the staff would simply put water in with the hard dog food, it would eventually soften allowing the pups and seniors to get some nutrition.

This whole scenario could be resolved by simply spaying and neutering all our pets. We do not need puppies and kittens being born at home when our shelters are over crowded and have no choice but to euthanize to make room for the animals coming in each day. You may think the shelters only euthanize sick, old and aggressive animals. That is a naive thought.

No, the frozen barrels are refilled every day of all types of animals that do not get adopted, like kittens and puppies, poodles and bunnies, I have seen this with my own eyes. If people line up every day to dump off their unwanted pets, the shelter can only hold so many animals and have to make room for all the animals coming in the next day and so on and so on.

Did you know it is cheaper to S/N a dog than it is to send a staff out to catch that dog, house that dog for a few days - clean up after and feed, to eventually use lethal injection, if no one adopts them? Not to mention, the cost of euthanasia serum, and the disposing of the body - cost of the freezer and refractory. Did you know they only use 1 Lethal Injection? We are all familiar with the 2 injections they get at a vet . First to relax, the second to put to sleep. At the shelter to save money they only use the final one. I have heard the horrors of screaming animals because the deadly injection Burns. I will forever be haunted by the screaming.
There are many Low Cost and even Free s/n clinics in Los Angeles and in our neighboring towns. I am aware that many Veterinary hospitals will charge $200 - $500 to S/N. It seems everyone wants to get in on the "Greed Train" of making money off innocent lives. For being such a rich community and a progressive town like Los Angeles, we as a community seem to turn a cheek and don't want to know about all the senseless killing of our innocent dogs and cats every single day. Yet, we have a "No Smoking Town" and a "No plastic bag ordinance"? Shamefully, we have 6 overcrowded, over euthanized county and 6 city shelters in Los Angeles alone, plus our neighboring city high kill county shelters ,where people line up every single day to dump off their unwanted pets? We as a community have to take responsibility for euthanizing (I am averaging) 600 innocent animals a day
Solution:
Spay and Neuter all pets.

Stronger S/N laws and penalties in all our town and neighboring towns.
Enforcement of those laws that are set in place.
Canvasing all communities - County animal control officers going door to door to check and make sure every animal in that town is spayed and neutered or the owner will be fined.
Hold our tax paid Animal Care and Control Officials and county employees up to a stronger protocol of Animal Care. Did you know our 2 officials make over $200,000 a year (tax dollars).
Do you know how many animals I could S/N every year with $400,000?
I could solve the over euthanized problem with just this opportunity. Now that would be tax money better spent!
Stopping all puppy mills.
Stopping all craigslist breeders.
Promote Shelter Adoption.
We as a community need to change the idea that killing is the only solution to our pet over population. Awareness and Spay & Neuter is the answer. It's cheaper and kinder. I believe in our great community of Los Angeles. I believe in our people. I know once they are aware we will rally together and fight to help end the senseless suffering of the innocent. If we can make laws that say, "No more throwing your unwanted plastic bags at the side of the road," we can make laws that say, "no more throwing innocent lives at the side of the road".
Why, does such a forward thinking community like Los Angeles have such a high euthanasia kill rate?
In my little opinion and mine alone:
1. I believe it is lack of regard for animals.
2. Greed.
People make too much money off of the lives of innocent animals. Like the gang members who dog fight or sell their puppies. Or see a pregnant pit bull on the street and take her puppies without regard for her. Your neighbors who want to make money by selling puppies on craigslist. The cruel puppy mills. The disregard of innocent lives in the farm animal industry.
I see volunteers and rescuers killing themselves and giving so much of their lives dedicated to make changes to help animals.
3. Lack of education.
Most people I talk to say they had no idea there was so many animals being killed every day. Most people ask me not to talk about it. Out of sight out of mind.
4. Lack of income.
Some people barely can feed their children and want to do the right thing. By the end of one s/n clinic we have a list of 50 people who have signed up and now have to wait till next month. We put out advertisement for a new Free s/n clinic and in the very first day we had 60 people sign up.
You tell me.

Sadly, there is so much on my heart. This is only my opinion. And cruelty is happening every where. This is when you buy coats, women shirts, gloves, barbie dolls with fur. When China sell these items this is where it is coming from. They look like golden retrievers to me. In cages they can't even stand up.
Another thing that haunts me is the unconscious eating of innocent animals. Poor baby ducks. Just so we can eat liver pate? Are you kidding me?
This is where those cute Angora sweaters come from. Asia's angora farms in China—the world's largest producer of angora fur—reveals how rabbits have their fur ripped from their skin fistful by fistful as they scream in pain. To cry out this way, these gentle, quiet animals have to be in agony.
The rabbits endure this terrifying ordeal every three months for up to five years.

I believe animals are our teachers - Beautiful kind Angels on earth. I grew up in a very sad and dark childhood I found the love and kindness of a dog saved my life. I never knew such kindness.
So I vowed to help stop the senseless suffering of innocent animals, and I vowed to stop eating innocent animals. Once you see the innocent cows getting forced into the slaughter house screaming as they are being cut alive, or how chickens live in a tiny cage right up against each other not even able to turn around their whole life in a chicken factory and egg factory. Once I learned this, it makes it easy for me to consciously and compassionately say, I cannot be a part of the senseless suffering of an innocent life. I know for a fact, that animals feel, pain, love and joy. As a member in the human race, we learned to not talk about it, turn the other cheek, greed over compassion.
I am not perfect. This is my little opinion.
I am haunted by the endless overwhelming disregard, cruelty, greed, and laziness to change - of my fellow human beings.
I have to do my little something and not look the other way because it is too sad to look at what is going on. It is the tender hearted people of the world that have to get strong and stand up to the ugly. You have to have a tender sensitive heart to care enough to do something and on the same hand that tender sensitive heart has to get so strong to see first hand all this abuse and raw cruelty and even stronger to take a stand against all these ugly people and the senseless abuse and suffering.

Please consider saving a precious innocent life by going vegan at least once a week. It's fun and easy. By not eating an animal and dairy product, you will help save an innocent life. I believe these innocent animals did not ask to be born into a short life of torture to then be brutally slaughtered - all in the name of disregard for life and people making money off their heads. These animals are all precious little babies to me. They are lives worthy of kindness.

and every tree that has fruit with seed in it.
They will be yours for food.
