Veronica Ferrantelli ~ President / Founder
I am an Animal Rescuer
My job is to assist God's creatures
I was born with the need to fulfill their needs
I take in new family members without plan, thought or selection
I have bought dog food with my last dime
I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand
I have hugged someone vicious and afraid
.
I have fallen in love a thousand times
and I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body
I notice those lost at the road side
And my heart aches
I know of no creature unworthy of my time
I don't believe we are master of the animals,
The animals have mastered themselves
We are a quiet but determined army
And making a difference every day
.
There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan
Nothing more rewarding than saving a life
No higher recognition than watching them thrive
There is no greater joy than seeing a baby play
who only days ago, was too weak to eat
I am an Animal Rescuer
My work is never done
My home is never quiet
My wallet is always empty
But my heart is always full
~ Annette King Tucker - abridged version
I am driven because there is a hole in my heart where once was the gentle and complete love of a little three legged dog named, Wonder Girl and her sister, Super Girl who only had two legs - who both senselessly died. They were dumped off at a high kill shelter when they were only days old. From a careless breeder who allowed the brothers and sisters to get pregnant, hence the legs and illness. I fought hard to save their lives, because I wanted them to know… I cared. I am haunted every single night by the abuse I have witnessed, knowing this disregard for life and senseless abuse on innocent animals continues daily. And yet all of this could easily change but people continue to blindly eat animals at every meal, not even thinking they are a part of the suffering. And people continue to profit off the suffering lives of innocent animals, by breeding, puppy mills, ivory trade, canned hunting, hunting, circuses, horse racing, even our city and county animal control officials make too much tax paying money and do nothing to end thee euthanasia. This is what pushes me forward. I find comfort in all that we do at The Dog Rescuers and I always know there is always room for a scared little dog in need in my home. It is just too quiet without them. Today, I know one less innocent animal will not die because she is sleeping on my lap right now.

Harold Norheim - Vice President
I have known Harold for a few years now. He is one of the hardest working rescuers I have ever been lucky enough to work with. He is dedicated to help end the suffering of innocent animals by transports, changing laws, adoptions, networking and so much more. I have never had someone I could lean on and Harold has stepped up to the plate. This is why we are very fortunate that Harold is now a part of our rescue team. All the rescue dogs at the foster home love their Uncle Harold. He spoils them with kisses & treats! Even at the transports when all you have is a few minutes with a scared dog before you load them, he makes sure they feel safe & loved before their journey. Says a lot about him. He also has 2 awesome rescue dogs Bear & Desi
