Veronica Ferrantelli  ~President

I am an Animal Rescuer

My job is to assist God's creatures
I was born with the need to fulfill their needs
I take in new family members without plan, thought or selection
I have bought
dog food with my last dime
I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand
I have hugged someone vicious and afraid

Picture

I have fallen in love a thousand times
and I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body

I notice those lost at the road side
And my heart aches
I know of no creature unworthy of my time

We may be master of the animals,
But the animals have mastered themselves
We are a quiet but determined army
And making a difference every day

There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan
Nothing more rewarding than saving a life
No higher recognition than watching them thrive
There is no greater joy than seeing a baby play
who only days ago, was too weak to eat
I am an Animal Rescuer
My work is never done
My home is never quiet
My wallet is always empty
But my heart is always full

~ Annette King Tucker    - abridged version

I am driven because there is a hole in my soul where once was the gentle and complete love of a dog.  I am haunted by what I have seen, knowing this disregard for life and senseless abuse on animals continues.  This is what pushes me forward.  This same compassion is why I cannot unconsciously eat innocent animals.
I find comfort in all our programs, and knowing there is always room for a foster dog in my home.  It is just too quiet without them.  Today, I know one less innocent animal will not die because she is sleeping on my lap.
Even though we work in the hospitals with children, my next mission will focus more on the disregard and senseless suffering of abused children.  I will take all that I learned and with the same driving force, I pray I can make the same impact.  ~Veronica

~Vice President

Daniela and I have rescued all our pets.  Our first dog no one wanted because she had a heart mur mur.   She fooled them, and lived to be 15.  Our second dog Coco was abused and neglected until her collar embedded in her raw neck.  We took her in and she happily lived to be 16.   Our daughter Jenner found Pixie on the street .   She turned out to be the most amazing dog we have ever had.   Of course, we must also mention our Calico Kitty who we also love dearly.  The Dog Rescuers may say "dogs" but it is for the love of all animals.

Being a part of  Salavare La Vita Foundation has given us the opportunity to work with children in need, by visiting hospitals, visiting special needs schools, and speaking about compassion to children at  inner city schools.   I have always been an animal lover with a great deal of compassion for all animals but being apart of The Dog Rescuers has opened my eyes to all the abuse and neglect there is.  We are on a mission to change this.  By transporting hundreds of dogs per month to no kill shelters, lowing the euthanasia rate for both cats and dogs by free spay/neuter clinics and teaching people to vaccinate all dogs can end the deadly cruel killer disease Parvo.  There is still so much to do and we need your help.             Thank you.

Veronica has been apart of our family for years, bringing over foster puppies for our children , Aden and Lexie, to play with.  This has been a great opportunity for them to learn the importance of proper care  and respect of animals through our Aunt Meronica's visit.  The Dog Rescuers is doing wonderful work with children in hospitals, in the community and with the dog rescue transports.  We are proud to be apart of this organization and will help and support in every way we can.
